Regent Surgical Health names Chris Bishop CEO

Regent Surgical Health, an industry-leading surgery center management and development company specializing in hospital and physician ambulatory surgery center joint ventures, announces Chris Bishop as its new Chief Executive Officer.

“We cannot say enough about Chris’ leadership and his integrity,” says company co-founder and outgoing CEO Tom Mallon, who will remain Chairman of the Board. “During the past year as President, he has brought tremendous value to everyone in our organization, from our staff to our physicians and hospital partners.”

Bishop joined Regent in 2015 and has been a dynamic force, steering the organization into its next phase of growth. As CEO, Bishop will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, as well as Regent partnerships around the globe. He will continue to focus on long-term growth while driving Regent's rapid rollout of new outpatient service lines, including outpatient joint replacement via bundled payment strategies.

"Regent’s leadership team and operational platform are the best in the business,” said Bishop. "Co-founders Tom Mallon and Mike Karnes will continue to be active at the board level, and our team of financial, operational and development experts including CFO Matt Lau, COO Joyce Deno Thomas, and CDO Jeffrey Simmons, will continue to make market leading contributions as well.”

Since 1996, Bishop has worked closely with physicians and other healthcare leaders to develop new business opportunities that are focused on delivering superior outpatient care. Prior to joining Regent, he was a partner and senior vice president at Blue Chip Surgery Center Partners. While there, he accelerated the firm’s growth through de novo and turnaround of underperforming surgery centers, helping lead the organization towards market leadership in spine-based ventures. Additionally, he built a same-store growth team whose track record far exceeded the ASC industry average. Mr. Bishop resides in Nashville, Tenn. with his wife Jayne and children Davis and Katherine.

Regent is currently partnering with more than 23 surgery centers in the United States and Europe, with more in development.
