Regenstrief Institute selects Dr. Peter Embi to serve as CEO: 5 notes

Indianapolis-based Regenstrief Institute appointed Peter J. Embi, MD, president and CEO.

Additionally, Dr. Embi has also been named associate dean for informatics and health services research and professor of medicine at the Indianapolis-based Indiana University School of Medicine; associate director for informatics at the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute; and vice president for learning health systems at Indiana University Health.

The Regenstrief Institute is a supporting organization of IU School of Medicine, and it focuses on innovations and research in biomedical informatics, health services and aging.

Here are five notes:

1. Dr. Embi is currently interim chair of the biomedical informatics department and associate dean for research informatics at the The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine in Columbus.

2. He will assume his new role at Regenstrief in December.

3. Prior to Ohio State, Dr. Embi was the founding director of the Center for Health Informatics at the University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center.

4. He serves on the board of directors of the American Medical Informatics Association.

5. He succeeds former William Tierney, MD, who left to take over as chair of population health for the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.
