Months after OIG report, Wilmington VA Medical Center retools leadership & names Robert Callahan temporary director

Following the reassignment of Wilmington (Del.) VA Medical Center's director, Robert W. Callahan Jr. has been selected to temporarily lead the medical center, effective Oct. 16, according to a Lebanon Daily News report. He currently serves as director of Lebanon (Pa.) VA Medical Center.

Wilmington VA Medical Center's director, Robin C. Aube-Warren, is being reassigned to the VA Healthcare's Veterans Integrated Service Network 4, located in Pittsburgh. The reason for the reassignment was not made clear, however VA officials note that it will be temporary.

The decision to reassign Ms. Aube-Warren comes a few months after a federal report was released detailing investigations conducted by the VA Office of Inspector General. Beginning in 2014, these investigations were conducted in response to claims of excessive wait times for veterans seeking medical treatment. The report found scheduling errors, excessive wait times and false reporting schemes at Wilmington VA Medical Center's jeopardized patients' health.

While Mr. Callahan serves at the helm of Wilmington VA Medical Center, Margaret G. Wilson will serve as acting director of Lebanon VA Medical Center. She is currently the associate director for patient care services and nurse executive at the medical center, according to the Lebanon Daily News.
