Anchorage-based Providence Alaska has appointed Deborah Berini as chief executive, effective Feb. 23.
Ms. Berini most recently served as president of SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, part of SSM Health, according to a Jan. 23 Providence news release. Before that, she was president of Penn State Health-Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center, where she oversaw a 647-bed academic medical center, a children’s hospital, a network of more than 100 ambulatory clinics and an academic physician practice.
In addition to her leadership roles, Ms. Berini has also advised organizations across the country on improving workforce well-being and reducing burnout.
Providence Alaska is the state’s largest health care provider and private employer, the release said. It employs more than 4,000 people full- and part-time.
