Pennsylvania system taps chief access officer

Erica Shaffer has been named chief access officer and senior vice president of post-acute care at Greensburg, Pa.-based Independence Health System.

In the role, she will oversee a comprehensive patient access strategy across the system, according to a Nov. 17 Independence Health news release. The strategy will focus on creating an integrated system designed to improve access and streamline care coordination.

Ms. Shaffer will also remain the senior operational leader for home health, hospice and post-acute partnerships.

She joined the organization in 2011, when it operated as Excela Health, the release said.

Independence Health System comprises five hospitals with 925 combined beds.
