Penn State Health names new CIO

Dennis Sutterfield has been named senior vice president and CIO of Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health.

He was previously vice president and CIO of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. He has also served as associate vice president of IT applications at Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System and an Epic consultant at PwC, Nordic and the former Vitalize Consulting Solutions.

Penn State Health is implementing a new Epic EHR, with plans to go live in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Mr. Sutterfield replaces interim CIO Bill Reed, PhD.
