Dr. Abelson, who is also senior executive vice president of Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners, led Park Nicollet through the 2012 merger with HealthPartners.
Dr. Abelson first joined Park Nicollet in 1983 and became president and CEO in 2010. Combined with HealthPartners, the system today includes seven hospitals and more than 1,700 physicians throughout various care settings.
Steve Connelly, MD, a Park Nicollet physician who helped lead the combined organization’s initial integration efforts, will serve as president and CMO of Park Nicollet in addition to his role as president of the HealthPartners Institute of Education and Research.
