New York system CEO to retire

Gerald Cayer will retire as CEO of Lowville, N.Y.-based Lewis County Health System, effective Aug. 3, 2026.

The system has achieved accomplishments under Mr. Cayer’s leadership, such as reopening maternity services, according to a March 27 health system news release.

Mr. Cayer has served as CEO since 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously spent 11 years as executive vice president of Farmington, Maine-based Franklin Community Health Network.

The health system operates Lewis County General Hospital, community clinics and home health and hospice services.
