Here are three things to know:
1. Dr. Moss was tapped to serve as chief executive of the health system in June. He previously served as surgeon-in-chief at Columbus-based Nationwide Children’s Hospital for seven years and as the E. Thomas Boles Jr. Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, also in Columbus.
2. While at Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Moss helped the hospital develop its first FDA-approved studies in tissue engineering for congenital heart disease and more than a dozen other federally funded surgical research programs.
3. Prior to his role at Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Moss served as the inaugural chief of surgery at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Children’s Hospital and as the Robert Pritzker Professor of Surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine. He also held leadership roles at the Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine and advised the National Institutes of Health and the FDA, among other organizations.
