MedSys expands advisory services team: 15 things to know

MedSys Group, a health IT services firm, has added five new strategists to its advisory services team.

Here are 15 things to know about the new additions:

Linda Ostach

1. Ms. Ostach, senior strategist, provides senior level leadership and consulting services to hospital executives and clinicians, MedSys Group said.

2. Her expertise is in the areas of EHR implementation and adoption, regulatory compliance, vendor selection, contract negotiations, risk and change management.

3. At MedSys, she will focus on new business, account growth and retention.

Jenn Bula

4. Ms. Bula, MSN, RN, and senior strategist, began her career as a bedside nurse in critical care and telemetry units with a specialty in cardiology, according to MedSys.

5. She became a SQL server specialist to understand how databases functioned, data warehousing and report writing, MedSys said. What she ultimately learned is the business side of the project lifecycle implementing IT systems.

6. She has worked on numerous EHR and Epic implementation and optimization projects.

7. As a senior strategist with MedSys, Ms. Bula will focus on building the Epic services line.

Tom Welch

8. Mr. Welch, a senior strategist, has more than 15 years of health IT experience working for a health clinic in central Iowa.

9. He also previously worked for Cerner in various roles including foreign systems integration, PharmNet consulting, client instruction, software release management and project management, according to MedSys.

10. Mr. Welch has successfully managed as many as 10 projects across multiple clients simultaneously for several years.

Patricia Drew

11. Ms. Drew, a senior strategist, began her career in healthcare nearly two decades ago as a registration clerk at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, part of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems. Later on, she moved to the IT side as a database analyst working with the Cerner registration and scheduling applications.

12. Later in her career, she became the director of the access management department at EMHS responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the Cerner registration and scheduling applications across the healthcare system. She also became the director of physician services and was responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the hardware and software to the physician practices within EMHS.

13. As a senior strategist with MedSys, Ms. Drew will focus on the Cerner services line and solution implementation.

Aaron Spratt

14. Mr. Spratt, a strategist, has healthcare experience that includes managing EHR implementations in both the ambulatory and hospital setting, directing the operations of a hospital IT department, managing physician practice operations, overseeing Meaningful Use compliance in multiple organizations and managing Joint Commission compliance for a Midwestern healthcare system, MedSys said.

15. At MedSys, he will focus on multiple clients, EHR optimization, contracting and total cost of ownership.
