Loyola University Health System names new CFO: 5 things to know

Blaine Petersen has been named CFO of Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Health System, effective March 28, according to a news release.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Petersen.

1. He has more than three decades of leadership experience.

2. Most recently, he served as CFO of Boise, Idaho-based Saint Alphonsus Health System. There he guided the organization through clinical integration and other health reform activities, including payer partnerships and risk/gain-share contracts, hospital officials said.

3. Previously, Mr. Petersen was vice president of financial services for Catholic Health Initiatives and vice president of network services for Rocky Mountain Health Care, both in the Denver area.

4. He also has experience as a consultant and has worked for systems including Presbyterian Health System in Albuquerque, N.M.; Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho; and Adventist Health System in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

5. Mr. Petersen earned a master's degree in business administration from Salt Lake City-based Westminster College.
