Ms. Hoguet will remain at the company until Feb. 2, 2019, in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition. Macy’s is only considering outside candidates as Ms. Hoguet’s replacement at this time.
Ms. Hoguet began her career at Federated Department Stores in 1982 before the company acquired Macy’s in the early 1990s.
“For the past three decades, Karen has had a voice in almost every major decision,” said Macy’s CEO Jeff Gennette, according to WSJ. “Through good times and bad, Karen has been a steady and strategic hand.”
