Mr. Berend had a 35-year career in public accounting and healthcare consulting before joining Victory Healthcare, one of the largest for-profit hospital operators in the nation. He held positions with Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young before joining Victory. A certified public accountant, Mr. Berend earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
