HCA Texas system names GME leader

Austin, Texas-based St. David’s HealthCare has named Cynthia Muñiz vice president of graduate medical education.

In this role, she will lead GME strategy for the 9-hospital system, in addition to HCA Healthcare’s Central and West Texas Division, according to an Oct. 23 news release shared with Becker’s

Ms. Muñiz most recently served as assistant vice president of GME for HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division, where she oversaw 40 residency and fellowship programs. The programs included 700 trainees at nine teaching hospitals. Under her tenure, GME programs saw improvements in trainee satisfaction and engagement.

St. David’s HealthCare employs more than 12,600 people across 190 sites of care. It is operated under a partnership between Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA and two local nonprofits: St. David’s Foundation and Georgetown Health Foundation.
