Hawaii system names assistant CEO

Wailuku, Hawaii-based Maui Health has promoted Penny Koval, MSN, RN, to vice president, assistant CEO and critical access hospitals administrator.

In her expanded role, Ms. Koval will continue to lead Kula (Hawaii) Hospital and Lāna‘i Community Hospital in Lāna‘i City, Hawaii, while assuming broader responsibilities in systemwide planning and strategic initiatives, according to a November 25 health system news release.

Ms. Koval was named administrator of critical access hospital in November 2024, during which she led efforts to improve care quality, staff engagement and patient experience. She also contributed to system initiatives such as capital planning and access expansion in rural communities.

Maui Health employs more than 1,600 residents.
