Georgia Medicaid chief leaves post: 3 things to know

Georgia’s Medicaid Director, Linda Wiant, stepped down from her post Tuesday, according to Georgia Health News.

Here are three things to know.

1. Ms. Wiant became Medicaid director in Georgia in October 2015. Prior to being named director, she served as pharmacy director for Georgia’s Medicaid program.

2. Lisa Marie Shekell, deputy commissioner and chief strategy officer at the Georgia Department of Community Health, told Georgia Health News that Lynnette Rhodes will serve as interim “team lead” for Georgia Medicaid in place of Ms. Wiant.

3. The Georgia Department of Community Health officials declined to discuss with Georgia Health News whether Ms. Wiant resigned or was fired.
