Dr. R. Sean Morrison is Icahn School of Medicine’s new geriatrics & palliative medicine department chair

New York City-based Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai named R. Sean Morrison, MD, the Ellen and Howard C. Katz Chair of the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Morrison has been an Icahn School of Medicine faculty member since 1995. Since then, he has served in numerous leadership roles. He has served as director of The Lilian and Benjamin Hertzberg Palliative Care Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital as well as vice chair for research in the Brookdale department. He is also founding director of the National Palliative Care Research Center in the Brookdale department.

Dr. Morrison has earned numerous awards over the course of his career, including the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine’s Excellence in Scientific Research Award and the American Geriatrics Society’s Outstanding Achievement for Clinical Investigation Award.

Dr. Morrison completed fellowship training at the Icahn School of Medicine.
