Alamogordo-based Christus Southern New Mexico has named Reuben Murray its permanent CEO.
Mr. Murray had served in the role on an interim basis following the March 31 retirement of Jim Heckert, who had been CEO since 2008. Before joining the hospital, Mr. Murray had served as CFO of Christus St. Vincent Health System in Santa Fe, N.M., since 2019.
Mr. Murray has a personal connection to Alamogordo, according to a Sept. 10 news release. His father, an Air Force service member, was last stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, where the family spent six years and where Mr. Murray graduated from Alamogordo High School. His wife was born in the city and still has family in the area.
“This community is part of my story,” he said in the release. “To be invited back in this way — leading an organization filled with compassionate, mission-driven people — is both a professional honor and a personal gift. I see this role as a chance to support our caregivers, strengthen partnerships and help ensure every person who walks through our doors receives the care, dignity and respect they deserve.”
