The leadership changes were announced Wednesday by the organization’s president, Imamu “Mu” Tomlinson, MD, who will become CEO in January 2017.

Theo Koury, MD, will be promoted from COO to president, and Prentice Tom, MD, will be promoted from CMO to chief innovation officer.

Joining CEP America’s executive team is Denise Brown, MD, who had been serving as vice president or business development. She will be chief strategy officer, and she will be the first hospitalist and first female member of CEP America’s executive team, according to a news release.

Dr. Brown has been a leader with CEP America since 2002, when she became medical director of Dignity Health’s Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, Calif., a CEP America partner. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a medical degree from the University of Chicago.

All executive realignments take effect January 2017.
