AMA Elects Dr. Ardis Dee Hoven as President-Elect

The American Medical Association has elected Ardis Dee Hoven, MD, an internal medicine and infectious disease specialist in Lexington, Ky., as president-elect.

Following Dr. Hoven’s year-long term as president-elect, she will assume the office of AMA president in June 2013. Dr. Hoven was first elected to the AMA board of trustees in 2005. She initially served as secretary from 2008 to 2009 and then as chair from 2010 to 2011. Dr. Hoven also served as president of the Kentucky Medical Association from 1993 to 1994 and as a delegate to the AMA from Kentucky prior to her election to the AMA’s board of trustees.
