Marty Hauser, CEO of SummaCare and chief government relations officer of Summa Health System, will leave at the end of the year. Mr. Hauser has served with the organization for about 35 years.
Bill Powel, Summa Health System’s senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, and Patrice Lange, senior vice president for planning and corporate support, will depart from the system on Nov. 3.
According to the report, Mike Bernstein, spokesman for Summa, stressed that Mr. Hauser’s departure was unrelated to CMS’ decision in August to suspend enrollment in SummaCare’s Medicare managed-care plans for what federal authorities described as “multiple, serious violations.”
In the interim, Summa Health System has announced Ben Sutton, vice president of integrated innovations and strategy, will take over Ms. Lange’s duties in planning and corporate support. Rob Gerberry, Summa’s associate general counsel, will pick up Mr. Powel’s duties as general counsel, and Brian Derrick, Summa’s senior vice president and CFO, will serve as president of Middlebury Assurance Company, Summa’s captive insurance company.
