12 recent hospital, health system executive retirements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive retirements in the last four weeks:

1. Gary Becker, administrator of Intermountain Sevier Valley Hospital in Richfield, Utah, plans to retire after 26 years of service, effective June 2.

2. George Conklin, senior vice president and CIO of Irving, Texas-based Christus Health, will retire Dec. 31.

3. Mark J. Francis, president and CEO of Fruita, Colo.-based Family Health West Hospital, plans to retire in September.

4. John Gillean, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer of Irving, Texas-based Christus Health, will retire Oct. 31 after serving the health system for 24 years.

5. Jackson, Miss.-based St. Dominic Health Services President Claude W. Harbarger plans to retire, effective June 30.

6. Patti Jurkus, CEO of Centra Bedford (Va.) Memorial Hospital, retired July 5, ending a 10-year tenure.

7. Linda McClung, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, will retire Aug. 31 after working at Irving, Texas-based Christus Health for 33 years.

8. Mark H. Merrill, president and CEO of Winchester, Va.-based Valley Health System, plans to retire next year.

9. Steve Patonai, CEO of Lake Chelan (Wash.) Community Hospital, plans to retire, effective this fall.

10. Kim Russel, president and CEO of Lincoln, Neb.-based Bryan Health, plans to retire effective Jan. 3, 2020.

11. Steven M. Safyer, MD, president and CEO of New York City-based Montefiore Medicine, announced his plans to retire.

12. Gary Weinstein, president and CEO of Washington (Pa.) Health System, retired, effective June 30.
