1. CEO John Friel’s contract was extended to Feb. 2012 by the board of Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale, Calif., to help the hospital smoothly transition to its new building.

2. Mark Stockstill was named CEO of Highland Community Hospital in Picayune, Miss.

3. President Peggy Hayden resigned from Excela Latrobe (Pa.) Hospital, part of Greensburg, Pa.-based Excela Health.

4. CMO Steve Berkowitz, MD, is leaving Austin-based St. David’s HealthCare on May 18 to launch a healthcare consulting business.

5. CEO Tim Hanson will retire from St. Paul, Minn.-based HealthEast Care System in January because he will reach the mandatory retirement age this year.

6. CEO John Welsh is retiring from Rumford (Maine) Hospital after 23 years on July 1.

7. CEO C. Shayne George is leaving Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga., on May 31 for a position at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Fla.

8. Lowell Johnson, FACHE, was named interim CEO of Salinas (Calif.) Valley Memorial Healthcare System, effective April 26.

9. Anil Jain, MD, FACP, was named senior vice president and the first chief medical information officer of Cincinnati-based UC Health.

10. CEO Peter J. Betts resigned from Johnson Memorial Medical Center in Stafford Springs, Conn.

11. CEO Lance Jones left Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, S.C., on April 26 to take a new position with the Center’s operator, Health Management Associates.

12. CEO Bernie Mattingly will retire from Cookeville (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center on May 1.
