12 latest hospital, health system executive retirements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive retirements in the last four weeks. They are listed below, in alphabetical order.

1. Steven J. Allen, MD, CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, plans to retire Jan. 30, 2019.

2. John Barrett, CEO of Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Va., is retiring April 13.

3. John Bartos, CEO of Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, Mont., is retiring June 30.

4. Mercy Medical Center-Centerville (Iowa) President Clint Christianson is retiring, effective Aug. 15.

5. Tim Lancaster, president and CEO of Hendrick Health System in Abilene, Texas, is retiring in December.

6. Robert Malte, CEO of Kirkland, Wash.-based EvergreenHealth, is planning to retire by the end of 2018.

7. Searcy, Ark.-based Unity Health President and CEO Raymond W. Montgomery II, is retiring, effective Aug. 8.

8. San Diego-based Sharp HealthCare President and CEO Michael W. Murphy plans to retire Feb. 28, 2019.

9. Becky Rice, president of Upper Valley Medical Center in Tory, Ohio, retired.

10. Sparrow Health System President and CEO Dennis Swan revealed plans to retire on or before Oct. 1.

11. Independence, Mo.-based Centerpoint Medical Center CEO David Williams is retiring May 1.

12. Corpus Christi, Texas-based Driscoll Children's Hospital President and CEO Steve Woerner retired, effective April 6.
