Driscoll Children’s Hospital CEO retires: 5 things to know

Corpus Christi, Texas-based Driscoll Children’s Hospital President and CEO Steve Woerner retired, effective April 6.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Woerner assumed the top position at the hospital a decade ago.

2. During his tenure, the hospital expanded Driscoll Health Plan, which now covers 175,000 lives.

3. The hospital also expanded its ground and air transport program as well as launched one of the first maternal fetal medicine programs in South Texas.

4. Eric Hamon, executive vice president and CFO of the hospital, will take over as interim president and CEO.

5. Driscoll Children’s board of directors has engaged executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to lead the permanent CEO search.
