Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, which operates 189 hospitals and about 2,600 ambulatory sites in 19 states and the United Kingdom, has named new CEOs at several of its hospitals since Sept. 1.
Here are the moves:
1. David Shimp, CEO of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital in Kissimmee, was named president and CEO of San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare, an HCA Healthcare joint venture, effective Dec. 1.
2. Dale Neely departed as CEO of HCA Florida Capital Hospital in Tallahassee on Oct. 23 after serving in the role since May 2025.
3. David Huffstutler, president and CEO of Austin, Texas-based St. David’s HealthCare and president of HCA Healthcare’s Central and West Texas Division, plans to retire in March 2027 after more than 15 years leading St. David’s.
4. Chase Christianson was named CEO of HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in Texas, effective Oct. 12, after serving as CEO of HCA Florida Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City since November 2022.
5. Sean Patterson is no longer CEO of Portsmouth (N.H.) Regional Hospital. Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Dodd, PhD, RN, was named interim CEO.
6. Wendy McClain was named CEO of West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho.
7. Mike Hoyt was appointed CEO of Riverside (Calif.) Community Hospital.
8. Paul Smith was named CEO of Parkridge Valley Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.
9. Ben Brown was named CEO of StoneSprings Hospital Center in Sterling, Va. HCA brought him back after he served there as COO.
10. Michael Hanson was named CEO of HCA HealthONE Rose in Denver.
