David Shimp was named president and CEO of San Antonio-based Methodist Healthcare, effective Dec. 1, according to an Oct. 28 news release shared with Becker’s.
Mr. Shimp has served as CEO of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital in Kissimmee since December 2021. He previously was CEO of Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, and COO of St. David’s Medical Center in Austin.
He succeeds Dan Miller, who was named president of HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division in August.
Methodist Healthcare, a joint venture of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare and Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, operates 11 hospitals, 10 freestanding emergency departments and 35 urgent care clinics.
