Dan Miller was appointed president of HCA Healthcare’s East Florida Division, according to an Aug. 25 news release shared with Becker’s.
He succeeds Charles Gressle, who becomes president of the company’s new Ambulatory Operations Group effective Sept. 1.
Mr. Miller will oversee 14 hospitals, 12 freestanding emergency rooms, 65 urgent care clinics and more than 100 physician practices, according to the release.
He is currently president and CEO of Methodist Healthcare System in San Antonio, a 50-50 partnership between Methodist Healthcare Ministries and HCA Healthcare. He was appointed to that role in 2023.
Mr. Miller previously served as CEO of Methodist Hospital and Methodist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. Earlier in his career, he was CEO of HCA HealthONE Aurora and COO of HCA HealthONE Swedish, both in Colorado.
“His experience leading complex healthcare organizations and his commitment to physicians, colleagues and patients make him an excellent choice to lead our East Florida Division,” Richard Hammett, president of HCA Healthcare’s Atlantic Group, said in the release.
Mr. Gressle will oversee HCA’s Physician Services Group, including urgent care and physician practice operations, along with its Surgery Ventures Group and other corporate service line and support functions. The Ambulatory Operations Group encompasses more than 2,700 facilities and clinics, according to the release.
HCA Florida Healthcare comprises more than 670 affiliated care sites statewide, including hospitals, physician practices, urgent care centers and freestanding emergency rooms, with about 11,200 physicians and 80,000 employees. It is part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare.
