Sean Patterson is no longer CEO of Portsmouth (N.H.) Regional Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
Michelle Dodd, PhD, RN, the hospital’s chief nursing officer, has been named interim CEO while the hospital searches for a permanent successor.
Mr. Patterson’s departure was effective Sept. 3, and the hospital did not disclose a reason, the Portsmouth Herald reported Sept. 10. A spokesperson told the newspaper the hospital would not provide additional information about the change.
Mr. Patterson was appointed CEO in April 2025, joining from TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tenn., where he was also CEO.
Dr. Dodd has served as chief nursing officer since January 2020 and joined HCA Healthcare in 2003. She previously was vice president of nursing operations for the 18 hospitals in HCA’s Capital Division.
Portsmouth Regional Hospital is part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare and operates in the system’s Seacoast Market alongside Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
