Currently senior associate general counsel at UnitedHealthcare, Ms. Savage has represented the insurer in areas related to health information exchange and other data-driven projects. She has also been on the governing board of CMS’ Multi-Payer Claims database project.

“[Ms. Savage] has stellar qualifications and a passion for health IT in this nation and our work,” wrote National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, in a memo to ONC staffers. “I am confident that she will bring her wealth of experience to advance critical privacy and security policies in health IT development and implementation.”

Ms. Savage replaces Kathryn Marchesini, who has served as acting chief privacy officer since the resignation of Joy Pritts in June.
