ONC’s Chief Privacy Officer Resigns

Joy Pritts has tendered her resignation as the ONC’s chief privacy officer, effective July 12.

Ms. Pritts has served in her role for almost five years. Her resignation was announced in a staff email Thursday, in which National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, lauded Ms. Pritts’ performance as the ONC’s first chief privacy officer.

Former National Coordinator Farzad Mostashari, MD, also applauded Ms. Pritts’ tenure in a tweet Thursday:

@Farzad_MD: Thank you Joy Pritts. You were a tireless advocate at @ONC_HealthIT for patient's rights, and improving privacy and security of #HealthIT. #aww #ONCLove

Ms. Pritts’ resignation comes shortly after the ONC realigned its staff, a reshuffling that had kept Ms. Pritts as head of her department.

No successor has been named.
