The auditors found Idaho Medicaid data security fell short in several areas. The weak points cited by the audit include:

  • Inadequate password settings
  • Inadequate encryption of network passwords
  • Failing to make sure physical access to the Medicaid management system is limited to the people who need it
  • Failing to run background checks on employees
  • Inadequate training for employees responsible for information security

According to report, the auditors “did not find any evidence that the weaknesses had been exploited” but if they were, it could disrupt Medicaid operations and result in sensitive information being disclosed.
