The “Know My Patient” app, currently in development from Nightingale Apps, will enable nurses to access and enter patient information from wherever they happen to be in a hospital. It is currently being tested for its effectiveness first in small hospitals, then larger ones, Tiffany Kelley, PhD, founder and CEO, told BostInno.
“At our jobs, we may sit at computers for hours to do what we need to do,” Dr. Kelley told BostInno. “But that’s not feasible for nurses, so they usually have a piece of paper in their pocket from the start of their shift with hand-off, straight through to when they end. It’s the only way they’re able to know what’s going on with their patients and manage questions like whether their labs are back or if they’re allergic to any medications. I knew there had to be a better way for them to track that.”
Dr. Kelley told BostInno that Nightingale hopes to coincide the app’s fine-tuning phase with Boston-based Partners’ Epic EHR implementation.
