The survey found 46 percent of business executives worldwide said digital will impact more than half of their sales by 2020. This was most highly concentrated in telecommunications firms, which will experience 59 percent of sales driven by digital-generated sales, up from 43 percent this year, according to the report.
The confidence in CEOs, however, is lagging. Just 26 percent of survey respondents believed their CEO has a “clear vision of digital in our business,” and just 25 percent said their CEOs fully understand how digital tools can improve how they “create and deliver value to our customers,” according to the report.
“Fully transforming the business demands changes in both the customer-facing and operational aspects of the business, requiring CIOs to partner across the executive team and making the CIO a natural leader of broader digital transformations,” according to the report.
