The committee, which is a part of the government’s executive branch, was established by the 21st Century Cures Act. The committee includes 25 members, eight of whom are citizen members. The other 17 are from the Government Accounting Office and HHS.

Mr. Ready, a certified Microsoft systems engineer, joined Norton Healthcare in 1998 as manager of end user computing, information services. He has been selected to serve on the HIT Advisory Committee for a three-year term.

“The Cures Act was one of the most meaningful bills we passed last year, and I am proud to have shepherded it through the Senate and into enactment. This important bipartisan medical research and innovation legislation provided the opportunity to establish the HIT Advisory Committee to make recommendations to ensure our country’s health information technology infrastructure is accurate for patients and protected from cyberattacks, especially in light of recent events,” said Mr. McConnell, in a statement.
