Health systems are expanding partnerships with Big Tech companies as they race to deploy AI, modernize data infrastructure and improve care coordination.
Here are 12 collaborations Becker’s reported on in the past month involving Microsoft, Amazon and Nvidia:
1. Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center launched an AI-powered assistant inside a primary care patient portal, using a large language model from OpenAI through a Microsoft Azure cloud environment, Becker’s reported June 23.
2. Amazon One Medical has continually expanded its network of health system partnerships, which now stands at 19, Becker’s reported June 16.
3. Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC is deploying Microsoft Copilot across its entire workforce and giving staff the ability to create their own tools, Becker’s reported June 15.
4. “We first ask, why not Meditech and why not Microsoft?” Mark Galea, senior vice president and CIO of Shreveport, La.-based Willis Knighton Health, said of his health system’s approach to AI in a June 12 Becker’s story.
5. Pittsburgh-based UPMC Enterprises portfolio company Abridge said June 11 it is working with Nvidia to build a foundation model for clinical conversations and is rolling the tool out enterprisewide at Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine.
6. Coral Gables-based Baptist Health South Florida said June 9 it will partner with Amazon One Medical to connect primary and specialty care across the region, effective Aug. 1.
7. As part of a pilot, Houston Methodist has been allowing certain staffers to use Microsoft Copilot to create their own AI agents, Becker’s reported June 9.
8. Amazon One Medical said June 9 it has opened a new primary care office at Montefiore Einstein Advanced Care in Elmsford, N.Y., expanding the organizations’ partnership to provide coordinated access to primary and specialty care.
9. Laurinburg, N.C.-based Scotland Health Care System was named a finalist June 3 for the 2026 American Hospital Association Rural Hospital Excellence in Innovation Award, which is sponsored by Microsoft, for its health-at-home program.
10. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic and Microsoft said June 2 they’re collaborating to develop a frontier AI model purpose-built for healthcare.
11. Mayo Clinic selected 33 ideas, out of 450 entries, to move on to the next round of its nursing agentic AI challenge, with finalists working with Microsoft to build and refine their solutions, Becker’s reported May 29.
12. Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health has cut care gap chart review in half with Microsoft’s Fabric data platform, the tech giant said May 26.
