HIMSS selects ‘champions of health’

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society named five champions of health, people “who are committed to transforming health and well-being around the world through information and technology.”

According to HIMSS, these champions fight not only disease, but also inefficiencies and high costs.

The five champions are:

The Influencer: Herman Monserrate, a senior business architect at Inmediata Health Group Corp. in Puerto Rico and HIMSS Puerto Rico chapter president.

The Strategizer: Kevin Carey, CEO of Holy Cross Physician Hospital Organization in Taos, N.M., and HIMSS New Mexico chapter president.

The Trailblazer: Mohammad Agha, MD, assistant professor of clinical physical medicine and rehabilitation and orthopedic surgery at Columbia-based MU Health Care.

The Disruptor: Saffron Wanger, CIO at Terros Health, a Phoenix-based behavioral healthcare provider.

The Gamechanger: Yolande Greene, senior project manager, population health at HealthShare Exchange, Delaware Valley region’s health information exchange.
