The EHRA published its first code of conduct in June 2013.

Key updates to the code of conduct include a section on usability highlighting the importance of user-centered design and how to include clients in developing best practices of using products, and an updated section on interoperability and data sharing.

Russell Branzell, president and CEO of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, expressed support for the updated code of conduct. “The amended code reflects the growing demand for increased transparency, security and usability of health IT systems. We are also encouraged that the revisions recognize the urgent need to adopt standards and achieve true interoperability.”
