West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health plans to transition patients to paperless billing via MyChart starting Oct. 1.
The 14-hospital system is the latest healthcare organization to turn on the Epic patient portal’s billing feature, which emails and texts statements to patients in lieu of a letter in the mail.
RWJBarnabas MyChart users with a valid email address and phone number on file will be automatically enrolled in paperless billing unless they opt out. Patients will be able to pay the bills on MyChart.
