ResearchKit is a software framework that helps medical researchers build mobile apps to gather data. The framework also supports researchers as they enroll participants and conduct studies. A team of researchers from the New York City-based Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, for example, recently completed an asthma study entirely via iPhone using the ResearchKit framework.

Apple detailed a few of ResearchKit 1.5’s new features on the ResearchKit blog. The new version enables researchers to display video content to users within their app and to test participants for new activities like selective attention and range of motion.
