Cincinnati Children’s cancels morning surgeries after 4-alarm fire

Several fire crews fought to extinguish a transformer fire in an electrical room at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital early Jan. 4, according to Cincinnati.com.

The fire, which resulted in a power outage, did not cause any injuries. However, the hospital has canceled all elected procedures and clinics until noon. The incident is considered a four-alarm fire because of the number of fire units dispatched to the scene, according to the report.

Power to the building was cut following reports of a transformer fire shortly after 4 a.m., according to the report. Smoke or flames could not be seen from outside the building. The hospital regained power shortly before 6 a.m.
