The project calls for upgrading the hospital’s surgical suite and adding nine operating rooms, three cardiac catheterization labs and new recovery areas.
“This is a substantial project and one that we’re really proud of,” Rashard Johnson, president of the Hazel Crest hospital, told Crain’s. “To be able to go in and modernize rooms built 45 years ago, it [gives] us the opportunity to take advantage of efficiencies and newer technology and deliver [high-quality] care in a more appropriate setting.”
The modernization project is expected to be completed in 2021.
