The expansion includes building a 300,000-square-foot tower with 200 private rooms, 50 intensive care unit beds and 24 operating suites.
“It’s the largest expansion in the history of Hackensack University Medical Center. It will create about 300 to 400 construction jobs during the peak, and about 1,500 employees will be working within the tower once it’s fully operational,” Hackensack Meridian Health co-CEO Robert Garrett told ROI New Jersey.
With a groundbreaking early next year, the project is slated to be finished in 2022.
