8 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.  

1. Broward Health sells $317M in bonds to fund children's hospital expansion
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health priced and sold $317 million of tax-exempt revenue bonds Nov. 21.

2. UPMC Pinnacle opens primary care facility
Harrisburg, Pa-based UPMC Pinnacle opened its Strawberry Square FamilyCare facility Nov. 20.

3. Georgia approves Lee County's proposed hospital: 3 things to know
The Georgia Department of Community Health on Nov. 15 approved Lee County, Ga.'s certificate of need to build a hospital in the county.

4. Akron Children's Hospital completes land swap with city, hopes to establish children's business district
Akron (Ohio) Children's Hospital will receive two properties from the city of Akron in exchange for one of their own.

5. Ohio hospital invests in $36M ED expansion, internal improvements
Adena Health System in Chillicothe, Ohio, is expanding its emergency department and making internal changes to improve patient visits.

6. Florida judge turns down hospital expansion plan
An administrative law judge said state regulators should deny Munroe Regional Medical Center's request to build a new hospital in Ocala, Fla.

7. Florida hospital to open $203M facility
Florida Hospital Apopka will open its $203 million, seven-story facility Dec. 5.

8. Virginia hospital invests in $22M ED
Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va., is doubling the size of its emergency department in response to increased patient volume.
