7 hospitals planning upgrades, expansions

Seven hospitals or health systems announced, started or completed construction projects in the last two weeks:

1. Kaiser plans $13B expansion in Baltimore area
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente plans to open 10  medical facilities in the Baltimore area as part of a $13 billion expansion.

2. Dignity Health to build 3-story center in Central California
San Francisco-based Dignity Health, now part of Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health, broke ground this week on a three-story medical office building across from its hospital in Bakersfield, Calif.

3. BayCare to build $200M hospital near rival Florida facility
Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System is planning to build a $200 million hospital down the street from an AdventHealth hospital in Wesley Chapel, Fla.

4. Stanford opens $2B hospital Nov. 17
After 10 years of planning and construction, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care will open a $2 billion hospital on Nov. 17.

5. Geisinger, St. Luke's joint venture hospital to open this month
An 80-bed acute care hospital built by Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network will open to patients this month.

6. Emory breaks ground on 17-story cancer center
Atlanta-based Emory University Hospital Midtown and its Winship Cancer Institute broke ground Nov. 12 on a 17-story facility that will focus on cancer care.

7. Mercy opens $133M Arkansas hospital tower
Rogers-based Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas unveiled its seven-story, $113 million patient tower Nov. 11.
