Apple will raise its starting pay for hourly workers in the U.S. to $22 an hour up from $20.
But, Apple isn’t the only one changing its compensation structure.
Other tech giants have also announced compensation increases. Google, Amazon and Microsoft have also increased their overall compensation to pay workers more in a bid to retain and attract talent.
The move comes during a historically tight labor market in the U.S., increased inflation and cost of living, and as the company faces labor unrest.
The tech giant’s retail workers have been fighting to unionize as they ask the company to increase their wages, according to the CNBC report.
Current and former employees at Apple offices are also pushing the tech giant.
About 1,400 of them signed an open letter to Apple executives asking for them to reconsider the office-return policy.
