Digital health: Who’s up, who’s down

The digital health market is constantly changing, with startups coming onto the scene and more established companies restructuring their strategies.

Companies that had a good week:

 

  1. Smile Digital Health, a health data infrastructure company, raised $30 million in a series B financing round that saw participation from Pittsburgh-based UPMC.
  2. Elemeno Health partnered with the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center to launch a digital health app for its staff.
  3. Solera is offering new digital health tools to Medi-Cal members through a partnership with Blue Shield of California Promise Health Plan.

 

Companies that had a bad week:

 

  1. Innovaccer, a healthcare cloud company, laid off 15 percent of its staff.
  2. IBM laid off 3,900 workers, targeting employees in its digital health business unit Watson Health.
