The Washington Department of Health approved Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health's proposal for a $500 million replacement hospital Tuesday, according to the Kitsap Sun.

The approval grants CHI Franciscan Health permission to construct a replacement facility for HarrisonMedicalCenter, which is currently in Bremerton, Wash. Harrison Medical Center's new $500 million home will be in Silverdale, Wash.

The state department of health initially granted approval in May, but later filed a reconsideration to review the financial viability of CHI Franciscan's parent company Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives. The initial decision was upheld this week after a public hearing that discussed the relocation of the hospital.

"It was certainly thorough and involved and I understand getting our community involved is important," Harrison Medical Center's President David Schultz told the Kitsap Sun. "We're excited."
