The $1.4 million project added six care spaces, a new welcome desk, more spacious triage areas and hybrid rooms for mental health patients. The renovations were designed to cut wait times for patients.

“It is really important for me that we have an amazing emergency department for our community, and that’s why we really wanted to focus additional effort on giving our caregivers what they need,” United Hospital President Tom O’Connor told the Pioneer Press.

The Peter J King Family Foundation funded the expansion project, which took six months to complete.
