Sutter Health Spends $39.5M on Vacant California Land

Sutter Health has spent $39.5 million on vacant property in Livermore, Calif., according to the San Francisco Business Times.

While Sacramento-based Sutter, which operated 24 hospitals and numerous surgery, long-term and cancer centers in Northern California (as of 2007), has not confirmed its plans for the property, Livermore currently lacks a major inpatient facility. The nearest Sutter hospitals are in Antioch and Castro Valley.

ValleyCare Health System currently operates an outpatient and administrative facility in Livermore and has a hospital about 10 miles from Livermore, according to the San Francisco Business Times.
